We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off‑grid DC solar and the European gas‑grid. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

Rivan is kick‑starting the global deployment of our Synthetic Natural Gas generators with projects across the UK and Spain. To head that up, we’re looking for a Development Director that is yearning for real‑world impact, able to navigate the daily barrage of blockers and technical challenges, and empower a technical interdisciplinary team to make it happy.

The role:

  • Own all projects across the UK and Spain
  • Execute solar and gas‑grid permitting on‑track, on‑time
  • Manage interdisciplinary team management across solar permitting and planning, gas‑grid connection, civil, law, finance and engineering
  • Engage, incentivise and organise various external stakeholders across government, council, sub‑contractors, and local residents
  • Own and be responsible for the budget

Core skills:

  • 7‑10+ years professional experience in complicated, large‑scale industrial projects
  • Interdisciplinary experience in project management, finance, engineering and/or planning
  • Experience in both the UK and Spain, navigating legal and regulatory guardrails
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field

Specifics:

  • £120-150k Salary depending on experience
  • Significant share options as part of the early team
  • Unlimited time off
