We are currently looking to recruit a Rotational Assistant Technical Officer to support the Pharmacy Department across dispensary, distribution, and procurement services, ensuring an efficient and comprehensive pharmacy service.
Key Duties
- Assist in reception duties, receiving outpatient prescriptions and TTOs, and entering prescription details into the system.
- Dispense medicines accurately, maintaining safe and effective stock control.
- Provide top‑up and distribution services to wards and departments, including assembling ward stock and processing returns.
- Manage day‑to‑day procurement of medicinal products and consumables.
- Support invoice processes and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
- Assemble IV fluids as required.
- Participate in education and training for pharmacy staff and allied health professionals.
- Support robust stock control practices, including participation in annual stock take.
- Contribute to pharmacy‑related projects and service improvement initiatives.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Participate in late duties, weekends, and bank holidays as per roster.
Skills and Experience
- GCSEs A*-C in Maths, English and Science
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
- Flexible and professional approach to work
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Basic to intermediate computer literacy; experience with Meditech desirable
- Good numeracy, literacy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain accurate electronic records
- Well‑presented and committed to learning and training
