We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to join our Cancer Services team at The London Clinic - one of the UK's most advanced and respected independent hospitals. This role is based in our purpose-built Duchess of Devonshire Wing in Central London, and comes with a competitive salary and access to an excellent benefits package.

About Us

The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independently owned non-profit hospitals, providing exceptional care since 1932. We have eight sites across central London where we deliver everything from highly complex procedures to routine surgery and medical care. Our main hospital spans eight floors and includes 234 beds and 10 operating theatres. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing, our award-winning cancer centre, is home to state-of-the-art radiotherapy and chemotherapy suites, along with 47 dedicated oncology and haematology inpatient bedrooms.

At The London Clinic, we are pioneers in personalised, cutting-edge cancer care. Our 18-bed inpatient oncology ward supports patients at all stages of their treatment journey, including those receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT), novel therapies not yet widely available elsewhere, supportive care, and end-of-life care.

You will work alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team and collaborate closely with services including:

  • Haemato-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant
  • Apheresis
  • Ambulatory Cancer Care Unit
  • Acute Oncology Service (AOS)
  • Radiotherapy
  • Rapid Diagnostics Centre

Job Profile

Location: Central London (Regent's Park/Baker Street)
Contract: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours/week
Salary: £50,713 - £60,848 depending on experience

As Ward Manager, you will visibly and proactively lead our specialist inpatient oncology team with vision and empathy, ensuring the highest standards of person-centred care. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of integrated cancer services-supporting seamless transitions between inpatient and ambulatory care, and empowering patients as active participants in their treatment.

You'll oversee daily operations, lead on patient flow and discharge planning, uphold governance and clinical standards, and play a key role in professional development across the team. This role is suited to a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, complex care environment and is committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of oncology nurses, promoting a positive and inclusive culture
  • Deliver safe, individualised care through visible clinical leadership
  • Partner with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
  • Champion service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with our Cancer Clinical Practice Educator to ensure high-quality training and development aligned with ACCEND
  • Promote evidence-based practice and deliver care guided by patient experience and emerging best practice

Skills And Experience

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult), with substantial oncology or acute inpatient experience
  • Strong leadership experience within cancer or acute settings
  • A strategic thinker and compassionate team player
  • Confident managing governance, patient safety, staffing, and performance
  • Committed to service improvement and integrated care pathways
  • Skilled communicator with a calm, collaborative approach
  • A management or leadership qualification (or working towards one) is desirable, as is experience in driving team engagement, mentoring, and continuous learning.
