The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independent charitable hospitals, operating in a complex 24/7 environment delivering outstanding patient care. Reporting to the Head of People Business Partnering, the People Partner will act as a trusted advisor to leaders across Clinical and Enabling functions, shaping a people agenda that supports exceptional care and sustainable performance. We are looking for a strong HR generalist, ideally with healthcare or hospital experience or from a similarly fast-paced, 24/7 setting.

This role requires a proactive and strategic mindset where you will build strong relationships with senior leaders, influencing early conversations and ensuring people considerations are embedded from the outset of change and transformation initiatives. Data-led and commercially aware, you will provide insight, challenge and practical solutions that position the People team as a true strategic partner to the business.

Key Duties
  • People Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing expert and commercially informed people advice aligned to the Centenary strategy. Translate organisational priorities into clear, deliverable people and workforce plans. Interpret, influence and challenge using data, supporting leaders to take informed, forward looking action. Work with confidence having robust conversations on capability, structure, culture, cost and risk ensuring that decisions are well considered and sustainable. Build strong business relationships with internal clients and the whole People Team, working as one. Provide clear and expert advice on a range of People issues including best practice, legislation, and the analysis and interpretation of data, and ensure business areas are aware of market conditions likely to impact on staff recruitment, retention and business development prospects.
  • Change Management: Support and influence change initiatives, supporting service redesign and organisational change aligned to our strategic priorities. Use workforce data, engagement insight, ER themes performance metrics to diagnose issues, shape change plans and track impact. Coach and influence leaders to role model desired behaviours, embed values and create safe, inclusive and high performing teams. Serve as a primary contact for line managers regarding job grading, re-grading, and the creation of new roles, ensuring competitive compensation, internal equity, and alignment with business and people strategy.
  • People Programmes: Take ownership for the delivery of selected people projects and initiatives, such as engagement, DEI, wellbeing and talent from scoping and design to implementation and measurement. Use the data from these projects within your areas to identify and prioritise focus areas and design targeted interventions. Build ownership and accountability of our leaders - supporting them to take ownership of initiatives that will positively impact their functions.
  • Case Management: Provide strategic oversight and input into complex, high risk or sensitive ER cases ensuring alignment with organisational values, risk appetite and regulatory context. Work in partnership with the ER team to ensure appropriate escalation and clarity of roles and effective handovers. Use insight from complex ER cases to identify themes, systemic risks and capability gaps, influencing preventative action and leadership development.
Skills And Experience
  • Significant HR generalist experience, ideally in a healthcare/hospital or 24/7 environment.
  • Experience of operating in a strategic business partner model.
  • Is personally credible, can provide examples that validate HR expertise and how strategic aims have been met.
  • Strong experience using workforce data, insight and evidence to diagnose and shape interventions.
  • Experience of leading and delivering people projects or initiatives.
  • Ready and able to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made.
  • Communicates challenges and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, delivering insight into clear and practical recommendations.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Understanding of employment law with experience of providing oversight and judgement on complex or high-risk ER matters.
  • Project Management skills including prioritisation, governance and delivery of multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent coaching capability, supporting leaders to build confidence and take accountability for people management.
