We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Healthcare Assistant to join our Oncology Inpatients team. This role is based at our Duchess of Devonshire Wing in Marylebone, which is home to our specialist cancer services and purpose-built inpatient unit. The London Clinic is one of the UK\’s largest independently owned non-profit hospital, and we have been providing exceptional care since 1932. We have 8 premises, where we perform highly complex procedures as well as routine surgery & medicine.

Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres, and The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 47 dedicated patient bedrooms for Oncology & Haematology patients.

Job Profile

Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £29,345 – £33,390 per annum

About The Role

As a a pivotal and valued part of the multi-disciplinary oncology team of nursing staff and allied health professionals, you\’ll help deliver high standards of person-centred care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Your role will involve supporting patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility and nutrition, as well as assisting with essential clinical procedures in a safe and sensitive manner. This will include involvement with recording vital signs such as observations, pressure area care, oral care, catheter care, wound care and monitoring intravenous access devices, upholding infection control and safeguarding standards. Caring for people with a cancer diagnosis, some of whom may be dealing with complex disease or indeed terminal illness requires constant provision of skilled emotional support. This is a rewarding and varied role, where your empathy, humility, patience, initiative and team spirit will make a real difference every day.

Skills And Experience

We\’re seeking someone who is:

  • Caring and compassionate: putting patient dignity and comfort first
  • Patient and empathetic: with the ability to support individuals and families during emotionally challenging times
  • Proactive and reliable: ready to support nurse with a range of clinical tasks and provide hands-on care.
  • Experienced: holding an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards or equivalent), with prior experience in a hospital or hospice setting.
  • Able to articulate their desire for choosing to work with people living with cancer in particular
  • Calm under pressure, with a flexible, team-focused attitude
