An opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join a busy laboratory. In this varied and hands-on role, you will be at the heart of the laboratory service—supporting diagnostic testing, handling patient samples, and providing excellent customer service to healthcare professionals and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patient details and test requests on laboratory systems
- Receive, check, and prepare samples for testing
- Respond to enquiries from healthcare professionals and patients
- Provide authorised results where appropriate
- Manage phone calls and direct queries to relevant teams
- Process departmental mail, reports, and documentation
- Package and dispatch samples in line with biohazard regulations
- Prepare and process samples for diagnostic testing
- Use laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and incubators
- Maintain stock levels and order supplies when required
- Safely dispose of clinical and hazardous waste
- Clean and maintain laboratory workspaces and equipment
What We’re Looking For
- Biomedical Science degree or similar
- Medical Laboratory experience within a pathology lab
- Knowledge of laboratory processes and quality standards
- Accurate data entry with strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team
