Salary: £19.21 – £21.96 per hour depending on qualifications and experience plus 33% shift premium.

This is a full-time position, Sunday-Friday 23.00 – 07.00.

The Opportunity: As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate Tool Maker to join our Toolroom team. In this role, you will contribute to our mission of operational excellence by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing tooling to ensure production runs efficiently and safely. You’ll collaborate closely with our Operations and Engineering teams, providing technical expertise to support production goals and improve tool reliability.

As a Tool Maker, you will be part of a well‑established team responsible for maintaining production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to ensure high levels of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply problem‑solving techniques and continuous improvement principles to maximise tooling availability, improve performance, enhance quality, and reduce waste.
  • Design, fabricate, and commission new jigs and fixtures to support production processes.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to ensure timely responses to breakdowns and completion of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Perform reactive repairs on press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts.
  • Support new product introductions, ensuring equipment and processes meet operational requirements.
  • Analyse tooling issues and root causes, developing effective PPM and TPM activities.
  • Record all maintenance activities within the CMMS.
  • Source and procure spare components as required.
  • Support production teams to help ensure daily targets are met.
  • Assist Maintenance Engineers with breakdowns, repairs, PPM, and installation work across other factory equipment when needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completed apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machinist, or Toolmaker, OR NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline / BTEC Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of safe working practices within a machine shop environment.
  • Proven experience in toolmaking.
  • Experience with CNC lathe, CNC milling, and surface grinding.
  • Experience with CAD, 3D modelling, or Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous.
  • Tooling design experience is desirable.
  • Experience with wire erosion, spark erosion, and TIG/JIG welding would be advantageous.
