Position Overview:
Ritmo Canela Academy of Performing Arts is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dependable Hip Hop Instructor to join our dynamic teaching team for the Fall 2025 season. The ideal candidate will bring high energy, creativity, and a strong technical foundation in various hip hop styles. They should be committed to fostering a fun, structured, and inspiring learning environment that supports student growth and artistic expression.
In addition to teaching, the instructor will work collaboratively with the Artistic Director to support the development of the dance program and curriculum, contributing to a cohesive and enriching experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach weekly hip hop classes to students ranging from ages 5-18 at various levels (beginner, intermediate & advanced).
- Plan and deliver engaging, level-appropriate choreography and movement combinations.
- Prepare students for performances, including our Christmas Gala, Spring Recital, a Competition and other community events.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
- Provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and support to all students.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrative staff.
- Attend faculty meetings, dress rehearsals, and required training or orientation sessions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience teaching hip hop to children and/or teens in a studio or school setting.
- Strong understanding of hip hop culture, technique, and choreography development.
- Ability to work with diverse learners and adapt instruction to various skill levels.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
- Must be punctual, professional, and a team player.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
- Background check required prior to hire.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Classes run 2-3 days/6 hours per week, depending on enrollment.
- Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
- Opportunities for additional choreography or guest workshops may be available.
