About the role
- Acts as the technical authority for SD-WAN delivery engagements, providing design assurance, governance, and technical leadership throughout the project.
- Designs, implements, and assures complex SD-WAN solutions, primarily based on Fortinet technologies, ensuring services are delivered safely, securely, and in accordance with agreed standards.
- Works closely with Pre-Sales, Architecture, Project Management, Delivery, and Support teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into successful technical outcomes.
- Supports the standardisation, automation, and continual improvement of SD-WAN services, delivery methods, and implementation practices.
- Provides technical mentoring and guidance to engineers, helping to build delivery capability and consistency across the Network Practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer discovery sessions, technical workshops, and implementation planning activities for SD-WAN projects.
- Produce and assure technical documentation including low-level designs, implementation plans, test plans, network diagrams, and operational handover documentation.
- Configure, deploy, and validate SD-WAN solutions in accordance with architectural designs, standards, and customer requirements.
- Act as Technical Design Authority for assigned projects, providing governance, technical assurance, and risk management throughout delivery.
- Review and approve technical deliverables and implementation approaches produced by project engineers.
- Ensure services are delivered in line with security best practice, operational standards, and service acceptance requirements.
- Support the transition of delivered services into support, ensuring readiness, documentation quality, and operational acceptance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues encountered during deployment and implementation activities.
- Contribute to reusable deployment standards, configuration templates, automation initiatives, and delivery best practice.
- Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and development support to delivery engineers and wider Network Practice teams.
- Work collaboratively with vendors, partners, architects, and operational teams to deliver successful customer outcomes.
- Support the ongoing evolution of Node4's SD-WAN portfolio, services, standards, and delivery methodologies.

- Knowledge And Experience
- Fortinet FCSS Network Security certification or equivalent technical capability.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise networking and SD-WAN solutions within an MSP, systems integrator, or enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Forti Gate, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer, Forti EMS, Forti Client, and associated SD-WAN technologies.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, BGP, OSPF, IPsec VPN, security, and WAN technologies.
- Experience producing technical designs, implementation plans, test plans, and supporting documentation.
- Experience acting as a technical lead, design authority, or senior consultant on customer-facing projects.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability across complex network environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical capability development within a delivery team.
- Exposure to automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, or repeatable deployment methodologies would be advantageous.
