We are currently recruiting for a EC&I Department Head on behalf of our sister company TUV Rheinland Industrial Services (TRIS). The suitable person must be a graduate Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer, chartered with a minimum of 10 years experience. Key Responsibilities: Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates to support proposals, and assist in the preparation of project documentation including scopes, schedules and technical reports. Deliver the EC&I engineering design scope within agreed budgets and programmes, and coordinate with EC&I colleagues, other engineering disciplines, clients and package vendors. Act as design authority for all EC&I aspects of the project. Prepare, check and approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, scopes of work and drawings in accordance with applicable British and international standards and codes of practice. Design, develop, review and approve electrical and control (IEC) engineering drawings, specifications and documents in line with national and international standards. Conduct electrical design calculations, and review and approve calculations prepared by others, including earthing, cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, cantilever strength calculations, battery sizing, voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat tracing. Prepare and review data sheets and procurement packages for electrical equipment. Develop and maintain key engineering design documents including single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, cable schedules and layout plans. Liaise with vendors and select, specify and oversee the purchase of EC&I equipment and components. Monitor all work for compliance with applicable codes, recognised engineering practice and client standards. Provide specialist EC&I design input to 3D models. Prepare technical analyses of proposals submitted by equipment manufacturers and contractors, and interpret vendor and other discipline drawings and information. Attend and actively contribute to safety, risk, planning, model and constructability reviews. Manage conflicting priorities across simultaneous projects, identify and formally raise scope changes as required, and ensure compliance with Company Quality Management Systems. Perform any other professional duties reasonably required to support successful project delivery. Key skills required include: * Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industries. * Minimum of 10 years of EC&I experience, preferably in oil & gas, chemicals and/or other high hazard process industries. * Appropriate Technical Engineering Degree and preferably a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate institution. * Knowledge of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices. * Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment. * Ability to allocate work appropriately to design staff and monitor progress to meet project needs. * Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments. * Comfortable dealing directly with both Clients and Vendors at all levels. * Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas. * Knowledge or experience of Functional Safety, preferably holding a suitable Functional Safety qualification. * Expertise using MS office suite and knowledge of AutoCAD. * Experience in the use of AVEVA E3D. * Experience in the design of HV and LV Power distribution systems, LHV/LV Switchgear Panels and MCC’s. * Experience in Relay Coordination, Load Flow, Short Circuit and Motor start studies. * Exposure to IEC, IEEE, IS, CBIP & ANSI Standards. * Proficiency in AUTOCAD, DIALUX, CG LUX Software.
