Senior/Principal Nuclear Engineer in Warrington

We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic nuclear engineers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to join our Warrington team (location flexible). The successful candidates will support the delivery of major projects within the nuclear power generation sector, primarily at Heysham 2 but there will also be opportunities to support other EDF stations, Nuclear New Build and decommissioning preparations.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the development of major safety cases, including authoring, verification and management of engineering change documentation.
• Undertaking specialist hazards reviews such as seismic assessments.
• Supporting probabilistic safety assessments (PSA).
• Production of formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
• Implementation of modifications to plant, including undertaking plant obsolescence assessments, authoring specifications for new equipment, reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports, and authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
• Support plant operability, including condition monitoring and identification of plant faults, supporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk downs, and reviewing maintenance routines/strategy.
• Management of projects, including responding to client requests for support, accurately costing project tasks, managing resources to ensure project delivery within budget, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, methods, data and use of appropriate software.

Requirements:

• Risktec will consider relevant science and engineering disciplines, such as Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control and Instrumentation (C&I), Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics and Nuclear Physics.
• Experience in delivering nuclear safety cases is desirable.
• Previous experience working in the nuclear industry, particularly with EDF is desirable.
• EDF AV3 qualification (or equivalent) is minimum.
• Highly computer literate.
• Hold a minimum of BPSS security clearance or are eligible to obtain it.
• Strong analytical and logical skills are essential.
