A leading and global real estate investment group is looking for a Senior Insurance Risk Lead to take ownership of its EMEA insurance risk programme. This is a rare opportunity to step into a visible, strategic role with full lifecycle responsibility for policy placement, renewal strategy, data integrity, and cost control, all across a pan-European portfolio of high-value real estate assets.
The Opportunity
You’ll lead a small but vital function, bringing structure, rigour, and clarity to an established insurance programme. Working closely with internal Asset Managers, external brokers, and legal and finance teams, you’ll be the go-to expert across property and casualty risk, ensuring coverage is fit for purpose, cost-effective, and responsive to the firm’s evolving investment strategy. This is not a support role. It’s a senior individual contributor seat, trusted to run the show, influence decisions, and continually optimise the firm’s approach to insurance risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the insurance risk process across the full EMEA portfolio
- Lead placement, renewal and administration of all property insurance policies
- Monitor policy performance and claims activity, identifying and resolving issues
- Maintain and improve internal risk controls, governance reporting and policy documentation
- Drive engagement with insurers and brokers, ensuring competitive pricing and strong service
- Work directly with Asset Managers to integrate insurance risk into transactions and asset strategy
- Support insurance due diligence for acquisitions, sales, and development projects
- Be a calm, capable escalation point for insurance disputes and portfolio events
Ideal Profile
- Strong experience managing commercial property insurance, either in-house, broking, or underwriting
- Knowledge of UK and European real estate markets and policy structures
- Confidence owning and improving insurance processes end-to-end
- Skilled in negotiating with brokers, challenging assumptions, and managing costs
- Solid grasp of insurance operations — renewals, claims, governance, and systems
- Calm, credible communicator with excellent stakeholder instincts
- Experience with insurance budgeting, controls, or regulatory reporting is a plus
Why Apply?
- Lead a core operational function with EMEA reach
- Trusted by leadership, with a seat at the table (not buried under layers)
- Work in a collaborative, commercially sharp environment
- Hybrid working model (3 days in Central London office)
- Salary £100,000–£120,000 base + strong bonus and benefits
