Role overview
Our client, a leading London-based law firm, is moving its client and third-party screening from a manual process to a new automated screening tool. We are looking for a KYC Screening Analyst to run day-to-day screening during the transition and to identify data quality issues and gaps that need fixing before and after the new tool goes live.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening on clients, beneficial owners, controllers and related parties during onboarding and periodic review.
- Review, investigate and discharge screening alerts, recording a clear rationale and keeping an audit trail that meets the firm’s policy and regulatory requirements.
- Escalate true matches and higher-risk cases to the MLRO / Compliance team in line with agreed procedures.
- Support the move from manual screening to the new automated tool, including testing, parallel running and validation of results.
- Review the existing client and matter data to identify gaps and quality issues, such as missing or inconsistent names, dates of birth, nationalities, entity details and ownership information.
- Document data gaps, agree remediation actions with the business and data owners, and track them to completion.
- Help with tuning the screening tool by flagging false positives, false negatives and recurring alert themes.
- Update screening procedures and desk guides to reflect the new automated process.
- Produce regular MI and reporting on alert volumes, turnaround times, data quality and remediation progress.
- Work with fee earners, the client onboarding team, Compliance and IT stakeholders.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience in KYC, AML or sanctions screening within a law firm, professional services firm or regulated financial institution.
- Strong working knowledge of sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening and alert review.
- Understanding of UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017, the UK sanctions regime (OFSI) and SRA / legal sector AML expectations.
- Experience of a systems change, migration or implementation of a screening tool (for example Dow Jones, LexisNexis Bridger, World-Check, Napier or similar), including UAT or parallel running.
- Strong analytical ability, with experience of identifying and documenting data quality issues; confident using Excel to analyse data.
- Excellent attention to detail and clear written communication.
- Able to work independently and to deadlines in a fast-moving transition programme.
- ICA or CAMS qualification
- Experience in a law firm client onboarding or conflicts / risk environment
- Experience of data mapping, remediation or reconciliation projects
