About our Team: You will be part of a team of analysts using global data from the largest real-time fraud detection platform to optimise solutions for our enterprise customers.

About the role: What skills will you develop?

  • Investigations: Conduct reviews of complex fraud cases to identify trends and actionable insights, making recommendations on how our customers can use your findings to build trust and mitigate risks.
  • Analytics: Use your SQL and Python skills to increase our customers’ fraud capture while reducing false positives, conducting analysis of huge datasets to expose patterns and develop effective detection solutions. Produce executive-level reports and own the end-to-end delivery of your recommendations by configuring aspects of the ThreatMetrix decision engine.
  • Consulting mindset: Engage with customers with the support of your colleagues to understand business requirements and latest fraud trends as seen from the front line.
  • Customer focus: Demonstrate a professional and customer-centric persona when interacting directly with customers via phone, e-mail, and chat.
  • Presentation skills: Use your exemplary attention to detail and ability to craft a story through data, delivering impactful presentations for external and executive audiences with non-technical backgrounds.
  • Fraud Knowledge: Develop a core understanding of fraud risks – account takeover, scams, social engineering, Card Not Present (CNP) fraud, money laundering and mule fraud etc.
  • Innovation: Bring ideas from your studies to give a new perspective on how we can go about our work and chase opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness through innovation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with ThreatMetrix teams including Products, Engineering, Sales and other Professional Services colleagues to continually redefine best practices.

What will you do?

As a Graduate Data Analyst within our team a typical day may look something like this:

  • Lead a call with a challenger App Only bank to discuss the fraud challenges they are facing.
  • Querying billions of rows of data from the Data Analytics store to look for & study events that align with the challenges the customer told you about.
  • Brainstorming with a colleague the types of data that could help prevent these fraud challenges in the future.
  • Testing out your ideas via SQL and Python so that you can quantify the power of your recommendations.
  • Presenting your findings and recommendations from an earlier project to an e-Commerce customer, highlighting how our products & data can help them capture more frauds while improving user experiences.
  • Attend our team meeting to review the latest innovative ideas being explored by the team.
  • Take the chance to present your own ideas and get feedback on how to convert into impact.
  • Working on your innovation idea and giving a demo to your colleague, who sees how they can use it right away.

Requirements:

  • A graduate with an academic background in a numeric discipline. In particular: Cyber Security, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Business, Economics.
  • Excellent analytical and coding skills (SQL, Python, etc.) and an interest in applying these skills in a business context.
  • Interested in Cybercrime Trends – a desire to understand the latest cybercrime trends and attack methods is required to deliver meaningful and effective risk models.
  • A keen eye for detail, accuracy and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Loves engaging with people, understanding their needs, and providing tailored guidance.
  • Someone who sees value in diverse experiences and is excited to consult with a myriad of companies.
