The team

You will join a cross‑functional department of Software Engineers, Product Managers and Designers, collaborating daily to deliver impactful product outcomes. Everyone is involved from day one, shaping opportunities that provide outsized value to clients and suppliers.

This role

As a Lead Engineer, you will typically anchor a single squad – often in a Tech Lead position – while influencing across all squads, setting high standards, and driving consistency throughout the organisation. You will manage multiple priorities, mentor teammates, and shape engineering strategy.

In the role you will:

• Collaborate to deliver an exceptional product, working with product managers and designers to bring ideas to life and influence product strategy.
• Develop high‑quality systems and code across our stack, supporting the Risk Ledger vision.
• Move fast while maintaining a high quality bar through testing, automation, discipline and best practices.
• Enjoy being a generalist, contributing to all areas of the platform and the broader business.
• Nurture talent by mentoring colleagues at all levels, enhancing technical and architectural decision‑making skills.
• Make an impact beyond day‑to‑day responsibilities, engaging in strategic initiatives.

You’ll have:

• Worked in multiple engineering teams focused on building a customer‑focused SaaS product, balancing value delivery with technical excellence.
• Deep experience with either backend or frontend development.

• Backend language preferably Go; or Java, C#, or Python.
• Frontend: Typescript with VueJS or React.

• SQL and NoSQL data stores, with deep knowledge of data modelling.
• Containers and orchestration: Docker / Kubernetes.
• Cloud providers and cloud‑native services, preferably AWS.
• Event‑driven systems and messaging services such as SQS/SNS, Kafka or RabbitMQ.

You might have:

• Mentored other team members and taken on nurturing responsibilities as a Lead Engineer.
• Background in a startup or scale‑up environment, or willingness to adapt to an early‑stage company’s ambiguity.
• Hands‑on data processing, machine learning, AI, or integrating large datasets into a product.
• Experience with observability solutions such as Kibana, Grafana, or Sentry.

Salary range

£110,000 – £130,000 GBP
