At Trustly, we're building a smarter, faster and more secure financial future by revolutionising the world of payments. As a global leader in Open Banking Payments, we are establishing Pay by Bank as the new standard at checkout, providing unparalleled freedom, speed and ease to millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.

This is an opportunity for an experienced finance business partner to join our Commercial Finance team, based in our London office. You will own the COGS profit and loss line (bank fees and hosting costs) and the unit economics across the cost base, partnering closely with Banking, Infrastructure and Engineering to control and improve margins. You will lead monthly performance commentary and the annual planning process for the cost base, working closely with Accounting and the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • COGS & Unit Economics: Own the COGS P&L line end to end (bank fees and hosting costs) and the unit economics across the cost base, including cost per transaction, feeding into merchant pricing models and investment cases.
  • Banking Partnerships: Partner with the VP Banking Relationships on banking partnerships, driving down banking costs and identifying bank routing efficiencies, including modelling the aggregator versus direct integration breakeven.
  • Cloud Economics: Partner with the VP Infrastructure on cloud cost analysis, ensuring infrastructure spend scales efficiently with usage.
  • Engineering Partnership: Partner with the VP Engineering on capacity allocation and capitalised development project decisions, day to day rather than at a distance.
  • Performance Commentary: Own monthly performance commentary on COGS, working with Accounting to confirm reported numbers are accurate and with the business to understand what is driving the trajectory.
  • Annual Planning: Lead the annual planning process for the cost base, including banking negotiation support, bank routing efficiencies and cloud or hosting optimisation as key initiatives, then support the business through the year to track performance against plan and course correct.
  • Investment Decision Support: Build business cases for high impact initiatives, which could include new products, regulatory permission changes in key markets, particularly in Europe, and support new product development with ad hoc financial analysis.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance or a similar finance business partnering role;
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, comfortable partnering with finance and non-finance teams, including engineering, banking and infrastructure partners;
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience building financial models and business cases;
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for modelling and analysis;
  • Experience improving processes and ways of working, including bringing automation into finance reporting or planning, is a plus.

At Trustly, you will have the chance to solve meaningful challenges alongside some of the brightest minds in FinTech. Together, we are shaping the future of payments in an environment that celebrates curiosity, collaboration and innovation. Our team is as diverse as the global footprint we serve.   • Monthly team outing allowance to enjoy social events with your colleagues;
  • Parental leave top up, additional support for new parents;
  • Daily breakfast and on-site perks to make your workday smoother;
  • Wellbeing support, our health allowance covers gym memberships, massages and much more to help you feel your best;
  • PLUS additional benefits designed to enhance your work-life experience!
