Senior Buyer

Rising Talent Recruitment is delighted to be working with an established manufacturing business who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Buyer to join their purchasing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, building strong supplier relationships and taking ownership of purchasing activities.

Supporting operations across three sites, you'll play a key role in ensuring material availability, managing supplier performance and driving improvements across the purchasing function.

This isn't a role for someone simply looking to take the next step into senior purchasing. Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer who can hit the ground running, confidently manage a supplier portfolio and deal with the challenges that come with a busy manufacturing environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing a portfolio of suppliers and commodities across three manufacturing sites.
  • Taking ownership of purchasing activities, ensuring materials are available to meet production and customer demand.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
  • Working closely with Planning, Operations and Customer Service to manage changing requirements.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving material shortages, supplier delays and supply chain risks.
  • Managing inventory levels, balancing stock availability with cost and working capital targets.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings, process improvements and improved supplier performance.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing information within ERP systems.
  • Providing support and guidance to junior members of the purchasing team where required.

What we're looking for:

  • At least 5 years' experience within a senior purchasing or buying role, ideally within manufacturing.
  • Electronics purchasing experience is highly desirable, particularly sourcing electronic components and working with complex bills of materials.
  • Strong supplier management, negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, with Epicor being advantageous.
  • A good understanding of material planning, inventory management and supply chain processes.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or ISO13485 quality environments would be advantageous.
  • Someone who is proactive, organised and confident managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and externally.

Why consider this opportunity?

This is a great opportunity to join an established manufacturing business where purchasing plays a vital role in supporting operational performance.

You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple sites, manage a varied supplier portfolio and make a genuine impact on material availability, supplier relationships and procurement improvements.
