Role Description The Supervising Social Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in London. The post holder will supervise and support foster carers through regular visits, supervision meetings, and ongoing guidance to ensure high-quality care for children and young people. Day-to-day responsibilities include completing assessments, reports, and statutory visits, contributing to care planning, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies. The role involves liaising with Local Authorities and other professionals, attending reviews and meetings, and advocating for the welfare and rights of children in placement. The Supervising Social Worker will also participate in foster carer recruitment, training, and development activities, while maintaining accurate, timely records and case documentation. Professional social work qualification (BA or MA in Social Work) and registration with the relevant social work regulatory body. Experience in fostering, looked-after children, or child protection social work, including supervising or supporting foster carers. Strong assessment, report-writing, and care planning skills, with the ability to manage caseloads and meet statutory deadlines. Effective communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with children, carers, colleagues, and external professionals. Sound knowledge of safeguarding, relevant fostering legislation, statutory guidance, and regulatory frameworks. Ability to work on-site in London, travel for home visits and meetings, and occasionally work flexible hours when needed. Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, equality, diversity, and trauma-informed, child-centered approaches. Experience in delivering or supporting training and development for foster carers is desirable.
