Are you an experienced CMM Programmer or Quality Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? We are an established metrology specialist with over 30 years of experience supplying and supporting high-precision coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and advanced metrology software. Our customers include some of the UK's leading engineering organisations across Formula One, Aerospace, Automotive, Composites, Castings and Advanced Manufacturing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Applications Engineer & PC-DMIS Software Trainer to join our growing team of metrology professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to expand your technical expertise, develop your training and customer-facing skills, and work with industry-leading measurement technologies.

The Role

No two days are the same. You'll work closely with customers, helping them maximise the capabilities of their metrology equipment and software while delivering first-class technical support and training. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Programming CMMs using PC-DMIS
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Measuring components using CMMs, portable measuring arms and laser scanners
  • Producing clear inspection reports and presenting results to customers
  • Delivering PC-DMIS software training and demonstrations
  • Providing technical support via phone, email, remote access and on-site visits
  • Visiting customer sites to deliver training, demonstrations and technical assistance
  • Preparing quotations and processing customer orders
  • Developing strong customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities
  • Working closely with Sales and Service teams
  • Liaising with technical partners
  • Managing your own workload and solving technical challenges independently

Although primarily office-based, regular travel to customer sites forms an important part of the role. This typically equates to around five weeks per year, although this may vary depending on business requirements. All travel, accommodation and expenses are fully funded, with a company vehicle provided when required.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication skills and enjoys helping customers solve problems. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience as a CMM Programmer, Metrology Engineer or Quality Engineer
  • A background in engineering or manufacturing
  • Experience with PC-DMIS (preferred) or PolyWorks
  • Good IT skills
  • Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies
  • A full UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points

Experience of GD&T would be advantageous but is not essential. Due to the nature of our customer base, applicants must be British Nationals who have normally resided in the UK for the past ten years and be eligible to obtain the required security clearance.
