Excellent opportunity for a hands-on Network Engineer to join a growing infrastructure team within a large, multi-site environment. This role will suit someone who has real experience building and configuring network infrastructure from the ground up, not just maintaining existing systems. This organisation is a well-established UK business operating across secure and highly regulated environments, with a large national footprint. They are investing heavily into their infrastructure function, with multiple hires being made to support growth and improve capability across a complex estate of over 90 sites.
In this role, you will take ownership of network infrastructure across the business, working within a centralised team based out of Manchester. You will be involved in hands-on configuration, installation and ongoing improvement of Cisco-based networks, supporting both project delivery and BAU activity. The role is particularly focused on engineers who have physically built and deployed network environments, including firewalls and core switching infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong Cisco experience, particularly with ASA and Firepower, and will be confident working in a hands-on capacity across routing, switching and firewall configuration. You will also be comfortable mentoring others and sharing knowledge within the team, helping to raise the overall capability of the function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team where you can have real ownership of infrastructure, work across a large estate, and play a key role in ongoing network improvements and projects.
The Role:
- Configure, build and support network infrastructure across 90+ sites
- Work hands-on with Cisco ASA, Firepower, Catalyst and Nexus technologies
- Deliver network upgrades, installations and improvement projects
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across a multi-site environment
- Support documentation, patching and compliance across the network estate
The Person:
- Strong hands-on Cisco experience, including ASA and Firepower
- Experience building and deploying network infrastructure (not just support)
- Good knowledge of routing, switching and WAN environments
- Able to mentor others and share technical knowledge within a team
- Full UK driving licence and able to obtain SC clearance
