Overview
In this role you will lead strategic growth across the Southeast and East Midlands for a growing multi-utility business. You will shape the regional business development plan, manage senior client relationships and major project accounts, and mentor a team of Business Development Managers. You will work with design, engineering and delivery teams to craft commercially strong solutions and drive high-value opportunities. This position offers autonomy to influence growth and impact in essential infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a regional strategic BD plan for Southeast and East Midlands
- Identify high-value market opportunities and emerging sectors
- Lead and mentor a team of Business Development Managers
- Maintain senior-level client and partner relationships
- Oversee major project accounts and high-value opportunities
- Lead commercial discussions, pricing, contract terms, and deal structures
- Support complex bids and tenders with cross-functional teams
- Drive process improvements in BD activities
- Represent the company at client meetings and industry forums
Key requirements
- Proven senior leadership experience in BD, Commercial, or Sales
- Strong background in utilities, infrastructure, construction or related technical sector
- Experience developing and leading a BD or sales team
- Understanding of the utilities sector (electricity, gas, heat, water, wastewater, fibre)
- Experience managing major accounts and negotiating contracts
- Familiarity with bid/tender processes and pricing strategies
- Ability to collaborate with design, engineering, estimating and delivery teams
