Are you an Engineering Manager, Design Manager or Senior Project Engineer with experience leading the design and technical assurance of major rail or civil infrastructure projects? This is an opportunity to join a nationally significant infrastructure programme and take a leading role in the design and engineering integration of a major new rail station in Birmingham. The project is currently revisiting Scheme Design before moving into Detailed Design.
You will provide engineering leadership, working with design consultants, contractors, technical specialists and major external stakeholders to ensure the station design is compliant, coordinated and successfully integrated with surrounding infrastructure and future railway systems. Experience working directly for a client organisation or within a major infrastructure consultancy would be particularly relevant, although candidates from major design and delivery organisations will also be considered.
The role will initially be primarily based from central Birmingham, with hybrid working available (3 days in office). It is currently design focused rather than construction led, but will become increasingly site based as the programme moves into physical delivery.
The Role:- Lead engineering assurance across the station design and delivery lifecycle
- Manage the technical review and assurance of multidisciplinary design submissions
- Coordinate interfaces across civils, structures, bridges, station infrastructure and future rail systems
- Manage engineering requirements, technical risks, design change and stakeholder inputs
- Support the transition from Scheme Design into Detailed Design and, later, construction delivery
- Experience managing design and technical assurance on major rail or civil infrastructure projects
- Strong civil, structural, station or bridge engineering background
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designs and complex technical interfaces
- Strong understanding of engineering governance, standards and design assurance processes
- Able to engage effectively with designers, contractors, technical specialists and senior external stakeholders
- Chartered status or progress towards chartership would be advantageous, although equivalent experience will also be considered
We are an equal opportunities company and welcome applications from all suitable candidates.
