An excellent opportunity for a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing and well-established building services consultancy, playing a key role in the delivery of complex, high-value projects across multiple sectors. As a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer, you will take the lead on electrical design and project delivery, manage client relationships, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and improvement of the business.
THE ROLE:- Lead the preparation and submission of electrical building services projects
- Deliver designs across LV Distribution, Small Power, Lighting, Fire Alarms, Communications, Security Systems, Access Control and Lightning Protection
- Produce concept designs, option appraisals, detailed designs, and stage reports
- Prepare and manage design documentation, drawings, sketches, and CAD outputs
- Lead client communications, advise on fees, and prepare fee proposals
- Interpret project requirements and drive practical, value-led design solutions
- Manage and coordinate design team members and attend design team meetings
- Prepare project plans, programmes, and allocate resources effectively
- Produce cost plans, pre-tender estimates, tender analysis and reports
- Liaise with and manage sub-contractors, respond to RFIs, and support site delivery
- Control variations and project finances in collaboration with the PQS
- Support marketing activities including bid input, proposals, and client interviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior staff
- ONC / HNC / Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum 7+ years' experience within a building services consultancy environment
- Strong technical knowledge across electrical building services systems
- Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience mentoring or managing junior engineers
- Commercially aware with an understanding of project costs and M&E ratios
- Proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused approach
