3 month contract - Full-time (Rolling after initial 3 months). £16.00 per hour + Benefits

Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm | Friday 8:00am - 1:00pm

Are you an Optical Technician or Assembly Technician looking for a contract role within a growing manufacturer of scientific equipment, offering structured training and potential for long-term work? The business specialises in high-precision optical components and scientific instruments. With a strong focus on quality and precision, they are expanding their optics production team.

As an Optics Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Grinding, polishing, measuring, and inspecting optical components to achieve high-quality surfaces for analytical instruments.
  • Grind and polish lenses, mirrors, and prisms to optical-grade finish.
  • Measure and inspect components using interferometers and other metrology tools.
  • Maintain and calibrate polishing and grinding equipment.
  • Document processes and results for quality control.
  • Collaborate with engineers and follow safety protocols.

The Person:

  • Experience in optical assembly or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Preferred: experience with automated polishing, lens coatings, or optical testing.
