Are you a Senior Systems Engineer with strong experience across Linux, Java, SQL and high-availability infrastructure?
This is an opportunity to join a specialist technology and engineering business working on a large-scale communications network supporting Critical National Infrastructure.
You'll provide 4th line technical support, troubleshoot complex system issues and work closely with Software, Hardware, Firmware and R&D teams to improve system reliability, monitoring and self-healing capability.
The Role
Technical Environment: Java | Linux | VMware | SQL | MS SQL Server | PostgreSQL | Bash | Python | IP Networking | DNS | Distributed Systems | Performance Monitoring | Troubleshooting | Debugging | ITIL | Configuration Management
Provide 4th line technical support across smart metering head-end systems and radio access network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex functional and performance issues.
Analyse system data, logs and performance information to identify root cause, resolve incidents and escalate software/firmware defects where required.
Develop and implement improvements across monitoring, diagnostics, troubleshooting, automation and self-healing, including the development of support tools.
Work closely with R&D, Software, Hardware, Firmware and IT teams on system design, code reviews, change requests, releases and continual service improvement.
Act as a technical SME, maintaining detailed defect records, knowledge documentation and supporting the delivery of high-availability, fault-tolerant systems operating in a 24/7 environment.
The Person
SC Clearance: Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance required.
Experienced Senior Systems Engineer / Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer with strong troubleshooting, debugging and root-cause analysis capability.
Experience with Redis/NoSQL, Apache ActiveMQ, server load balancing, F5/Alteon/Cisco ACE, RHCSA/RHCT, VCP or CCNA would be advantageous.
