A leading food retailer and wholesaler in the North West of England is looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to oversee the Buying and Category Strategy for one of their Fresh Food categories by effectively sourcing and negotiating the optimum cost price with suppliers. The company are a winner of multiple awards for their products and service and have won awards in recognition of the way the treat their employees. With responsibility both branded and own brand ranges, you will be required to identify and source new suppliers as well as optimising terms with the current supply base, with a particular emphasis on NPD and Innovation. With Buying / Trading experience in the Retail or Wholesale sector in a food category (preferably short shelf life such as meat, produce, dairy, deli etc) you will have a proven track record of success in managing the trading of your category from top to bottom. This will be underpinned by your outstanding negotiation skills along with strong commercial acumen. The successful applicant will be paid a market-leading salary dependent on experience, with a benefits package that includes relocation assistance where appropriate, private healthcare, 25 days holidays (increasing with service), contributory pension and a host of other incentives. Whilst this is an office based role, the company supports occasional home working, typically 1, but sometimes 2 days per week.
