About the Role
Reporting directly to the Buying Director, this is a high‑impact position where you’ll lead the commercial agenda across your categories. You’ll manage key supplier relationships, negotiate competitive terms and drive income, cost and margin performance. A large part of the role centres on Own Label development — working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver a strong pipeline of new and innovative products. You’ll oversee all trading terms, including overriders and marketing agreements, and shape a promotional plan that delivers sales and keeps the business ahead of the market. You’ll also lead range reviews, collaborate with suppliers on joint business plans, and hold full accountability for category profitability.
About You
You’ll bring solid experience from a retail and/or wholesale Buying environment, with a strong track record in developing Own Label ranges across both food and household grocery categories. You’ll understand category management principles, be confident managing a supply base, and have excellent negotiation and sourcing skills. You’ll be commercially sharp, able to identify opportunities to drive value, and comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels. A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach will be key to your success.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including car or car allowance, bonus, healthcare and generous holiday entitlement. You’ll join a dynamic, supportive organisation where you’ll play a central role in shaping ambitious growth plans. The role offers a blend of office time in South Yorkshire and two days per week working remotely. Above all, you’ll be part of a business that genuinely invests in its people and empowers them to make an impact.
