I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Product Developer / Sourcing Manager to join a leading national retailer within their Commercial team in the central office in North London.
You will be responsible for driving the Buying strategy to ensure the growth in both sales & profitability while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued development within the own brand buying department. Some of your duties will include:
- Take full end to end ownership of the commercial & sourcing strategy for the COGS for own brand categories within BWS and Soft Beverages.
- Building & maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Understand key cost drivers (and impacts) within your category and continuously identify opportunities for improvement.
- Full responsibility of negotiation of cost price increases and ensuring timelines are communicated throughout the process.
- Continue to work collaboratively with current suppliers on reducing COGS and expand the range opportunities.
- Maintain outstanding levels of supplier service and work seamlessly with internal departments to resolve any issues promptly.
- Always seeking new suppliers to deliver a stronger commercial offer than current suppliers, or to supply new / alternate products and categories to the business.
- Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines with the own brand team.
- Working closely with the new product development teams to maintain quality levels within products.
- Presenting reports, figures and trend information to the Senior Management team.
Key requirements for the role:
- Proven previous Buying / Procurement / Sourcing experience within a fast-moving FMCG / Food environment.
- Experience with NPD essential.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Able to adapt swiftly in a fast paced, ever changing retail market.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
- Excellent understanding of all MS Office products.
