Are you a commercial expert with a strong background in the UK food, drink, and FMCG wholesale sectors? We are looking for a driven, field-based Regional Development Manager to join a premier buying group, supporting our wholesale member partners across the region to maximise sales, profitability, and growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the Member Development Controller, this is a field-based role leading account growth and engagement across a multi-site region. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to senior member contacts on-site, delivering business reviews, driving store development strategies, and helping members unlock maximum value from group membership.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management: Manage your multi-site region through regular on-site business review meetings, analysing earnings against subscription costs, and executing clear action plans.
- Commercial Growth: Advise wholesale members on maximising their Symbol Store development budgets, operating cost savings, and revenue opportunities.
- Market Insights & Compliance: Provide guidance on category trends across retail, foodservice, and on-trade sectors while driving compliance for promotions and own-brand ranges.
- Networking & Events: Build strong relationships with key senior contacts and represent the group at national networking events.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years in a similar field-based role within cash & carry, delivered wholesale, or convenience retailing, plus 2+ years of people management experience.
- Thorough understanding of UK wholesale markets, buying group mechanics, and competitor strategies.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with a solid understanding of trading regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and analytical tools like Power BI.
- Willingness to travel across the assigned multi-site region for face-to-face member meetings.
