Our client is an ambitious and fast-growing premium food business with a strong presence in the UK retail market. They are looking to appoint a commercially focused Category Executive to join their team in Central London, supporting the Head of Sales and playing a key role in driving commercial performance across major retail accounts. The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for analysing sales performance, identifying trends and delivering actionable insights that support commercial decision-making. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, helping to identify opportunities for growth, improve category performance and support the execution of key commercial initiatives. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with data but also wants exposure to the wider commercial side of an FMCG business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse sales performance across retail customers, identifying trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Produce regular sales reports, dashboards and performance analysis for senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor category performance, competitor activity and market trends to provide commercial insights.
  • Support the preparation of customer presentations, business reviews and sales meetings.
  • Evaluate promotional performance and recommend actions to improve future activity.
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting and demand planning.
  • Identify opportunities to increase distribution, optimise ranging and drive category growth.
  • Support new product launches through sales tracking and performance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate commercial data, pricing and customer information.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance and operations to ensure commercial initiatives are delivered successfully.

About You

The successful candidate will be analytical, commercially aware and naturally curious, with the ability to turn data into meaningful business recommendations. You'll be proactive, organised and confident working with stakeholders across the business.

Requirements

  • Experience in a Category, Commercial, Sales Analyst or Sales Support role within an FMCG or consumer goods environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and data manipulation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
  • Experience working with retail sales data is highly desirable.
  • Experience using tools such as NielsenIQ, Circana (IRI), Kantar or Power BI would be advantageous.
