I am currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Manager to join a leading national retailer within their Quality Assurance team in the central office in North London. You will be responsible for supporting the head of QA, ensuring that all food and product safety requirements are met alongside maintaining the high levels of brand quality. Also maintaining supplier due diligence to ensure that responsible retailing remains a key area focus covering packaging, environment and product sourcing.
As the Technical Manager some of your duties will include:
- Continually review and develop effective QA processes for the brand, liaising with product development teams and suppliers.
- Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure adherence to nationally agreed UK policies, including quality performance in line with agreed brand benchmarks.
- Work with Product Managers to ensure that all products meet both quality and safety requirements.
- Ensure appropriate and timely approval and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Reviewing new and existing supplier conformance to agreed quality standards, conducting regular audits for supplier quality assurance.
- Resolving any escalated product complaints ensuring all supplier quality issues are managed effectively.
- Stay up to date with all relevant legislative changes and communicate as required.
- Maintain effective management of responsible sourcing/ethical trading regulations to mitigate risks throughout the supply chain.
- Be a team representative at relevant external stakeholder meetings associated with Quality, food safety, legislation and responsible retailing where required.
- Responsible for conducting product withdrawals and recalls.
- Member of Crisis Management Team identifying ‘Emerging Risks’ to business or product portfolio and implement timely actions to mitigate further risks.
- Presenting reports, figures and quality information to the Senior Management team.
Key requirements for the role:
- Proven previous QA/Technical experience within a fast-moving FMCG/Food environment.
- Educated to degree level in Food Science or equivalent with L3 HACCP.
- Strong knowledge of the impact of food safety legislation on NPD.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced, ever-changing retail market.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
