Job Description

A leading Food and Drink Wholesaler based in the Lancashire region is looking to hire an ambitious and talented Buyer to play a lead role in developing and implementing the wider company buying strategy within their one of their food categories.

About the role

In this exciting and challenging role, you will be tasked with managing a wide and varied supply base where your primary responsibilities will be to negotiate the best cost price via the management of supplier terms. You will, on an annual basis, manage the tendering and re-tendering of contracts in line with the business strategy. You will also monitor market trends in the sector to ensure the range meets with customer needs, continually looking for ways to improve and enhance the product offer. Working closely with the Technical team, the Buyer will play a lead role in the NPD process, driving innovation and giving the company a point of difference.

About you

To be considered for the position, you will need to have a proven track record of success in a Buying role, preferably with experience in the food and beverage sector. With outstanding commercial and negotiation skills, you will be able to demonstrate success in developing promotional and category strategies and improving supplier contributions. This will be underpinned by your excellent communication skills and your ability to effectively influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

What you’ll get in return

For the successful applicant, you will be given the opportunity to earn a competitive basic salary in the range of £50,000 (dependent on experience) in an environment where you will play a lead role in the continued growth of the business.
