I am currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer / Senior Buyer to join an established and well-loved food retailer. This is a great opportunity for a commercial and product focused Buyer to join the grocery team. You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Buying to deliver commercially focused product ranges that meet both Departmental and Company targets, while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued growth within the department.
Responsibilities
- Lead your team of Buyers to manage their individual categories
- Building & maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
- Ensuring selected product lines achieve season defined timeframes
- Sourcing suppliers & negotiating best cost prices
- Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines
- Plan & deliver specific promotions & events within your department
- Attending trade shows / outlets, supplier markets
- Negotiate the best possible contracts & terms
- Plan & forecast ahead 6/12-month future strategies
- Monitor continual competitor and price analysis to stay ahead
- Presenting reports, figures, and trend information to the Senior Management team
- Develop the Buying team to ensure they fulfil their individual career potential
Key Requirements
- Proven previous experience as a Buyer within a food retail environment
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively
- Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced market
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels
- Good working knowledge of budgets and managing conflicting projects
- Excellent understanding of all MS Office products
