A leading food retailer and wholesaler in the North West is seeking a Senior Buying Manager to take ownership of one of the ranges in the ambient grocery category. Renowned for award-winning products, outstanding service, and recognition as an employer of choice, this business offers a dynamic environment where your expertise will make a real impact.
The Role
As Senior Buying Manager, you will shape and deliver the Buying and Category Strategy for your range, ensuring a profitable and competitive product offer. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and launching a compelling category range across branded and own-label products.
- Identifying and onboarding new suppliers while strengthening relationships with existing partners.
- Negotiating optimum cost prices, with a particular focus on major brands in the chilled food space.
- Managing price files and contracts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Driving in-season promotional activity to maximise sales, margin, and supplier income.
The Person
We’re looking for a proven Buyer/Trader with experience in the FMCG Retail or Wholesale food sector. You will bring:
- A track record of managing a category end-to-end, delivering both sales and profitability.
- Strong supplier relationship skills, enabling you to implement strategy effectively.
- Commercial acumen and negotiation expertise, with the ability to secure competitive terms.
- Innovative thinking to stay ahead of competitors while keeping customer needs at the forefront.
