This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a leading specialist retailer in a great role managing an important product category. The business is performing well ahead of the market and is going through a period of investment, making it an ideal time to join. This is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering a commercially focused range that meets both company and team targets while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued growth in the categories.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with large FMCG suppliers.
  • Sourcing suppliers and negotiating best cost prices.
  • Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines.
  • Reviewing levels of own brand stock and ensuring adequate levels are available while minimising risk.
  • Liaising with the distribution centres to optimise stock-holds.
  • Presenting reports, figures, and trend information to the Senior Management team.
  • Dealing and resolving escalated supplier queries.
  • Analysing market trends and competitor activity.
  • Working with the own brand development team to ensure new products adhere to department business plans.

Key requirements for the role:

  • Proven experience as Buyer / Buying Manager within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced, ever-changing FMCG market.
  • Good level of education; a degree is preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of budgets and managing conflicting projects.
  • Excellent understanding of all MS Office products including advanced Excel.
