This diverse retail and wholesale business is looking to recruit a Trading / Buying specialist who will manage all aspects of Category Management for their Pet Category including sourcing and managing suppliers, ranging, pricing, running the promotional calendar as well as securing income from suppliers for marketing and media support.

About the role

You will have full accountability for setting the budget and the delivery of sales in your assigned category, which will include managing margins to optimise bottom line profit. You will work closely with your supply base to produce Joint Business Plans (JBPs), and then use these to create, implement and execute the category strategy. You will negotiate with suppliers to gain income to support media promotions and instore initiatives and you will be responsible for decisions on range and price in line with broader business objectives.

About the Person

This would suit someone with a retail or wholesale Buying background who has strong experience of buying Pet products, although other adjacent categories will be considered. You must be able to build relationships internally and externally using effective influencing skills, and you will be a strong and effective negotiator. A proven track record of success in the creation and execution of category strategy and promotional plans is essential.
