Position Overview

  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring and install walls and roofing systems
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures
  • Fit and install trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Prepare cost estimates as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

Qualifications

  • Must-have: Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or minimum of 4 years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe requirements as it pertains to Carpentry
  • Nice-to-have: Previous supervisory experience managing trades and subcontractors
  • Knowledge in MS Office, including SharePoint
  • Experience with Smartphones, productivity apps and computers
