We are seeking on behalf of our Client an experienced Production Manager/Workshop Manager to join their workforce on a permanent basis. Suitable candidates are likely to be time served and have experience in sheet metal fabrication, including with stainless steel, welding, and CNC press and laser cutting machines. Ideally you will have experience of working with a wide variety of fabricated products and manufacturing, including marking, cutting, welding. Machine programming ability is a distinct advantage, as would be experience with specific machinery by Trumpf and or Amada. In addition you will have experience in implementing improvements and efficiencies, supervising staff and adhering to production schedules. Previous supervisory and management responsibility is essential. This is a salaried position and will carry a bonus in addition plus other benefits. Normal hours of work Monday to Friday 7.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. some extra hours will occasionally be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Plan and Control production workflow to meet despatch deadlines. Manage and mentor a team of shop floor personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Production Process Optimization: Understanding and interpretation of technical drawings. Monitor, control and review all aspects of manufacturing processes, including BOM, stock control, and the issuing of relevant drawings and process documentation to the relevant production personnel. Co-ordinate with relevant internal departments and key suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of critical material and components.
- Equipment and Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with all personnel to ensure quality standards attained across all production areas. Develop and maintain documentation for production processes, procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all production activities align with safety regulations and standards. Conduct regular safety audits and arrange training sessions to minimize any identified risks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of City and Guilds / HND or equivalent Technical Qualification in associated sheet metal fabrication production activity.
- 5 years of experience in a production engineering management role.
- Computer literate, ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products, and comfortable using production planning tools, and ERP systems.
- Reside within 45 minutes commutable distance of Luton.
