Area Sales Engineer Industrial Electrical Control & Automation. Excellent negotiable salary DOE, plus bonus, share scheme, quality company car, pension, and more. 25 days plus statutory holidays.
On behalf of our client, we have an excellent opportunity in the technical sales team of this rapidly growing business for an experienced field-based Area Sales Engineer with a proven track record as a business developer and excellent salesman in the Electrical Control and Automation industry to join the team of this first-class business. The Sales Engineer will be selling a full range of high-quality Industrial Control & Automation products, i.e. Control Gear, Switchgear & Circuit Protection, Variable Speed Drives, Sensors, PLC, HMI, Enclosures, Cable Management & consumables, and Process Instrumentation, along with the capability to provide customised and packaged solutions, into the OEM, End User, System Integrator and Panel Builder markets across the M62/M180 corridor, West Yorkshire, and parts of Greater Manchester & Cheshire.
Responsibilities
- Work as an external sales professional selling a full range of Industrial Control & Automation products and solutions to OEMs, End Users, System Integrators and Panel Builders.
- Develop and manage an existing portfolio of accounts while identifying new avenues of business to achieve defined sales targets.
- Plan and prioritise activities to meet sales objectives; travel as required to cover the M62/M180 corridor, West Yorkshire and parts of Greater Manchester & Cheshire.
- Provide customised and packaged solutions and ensure customer satisfaction through technical knowledge and strong relationship management.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, utilise Microsoft packages for planning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Sales and technical experience in the Industrial Automation industry.
- Formal qualification in an Electrical/Electronic discipline is desirable but not essential; ability to demonstrate knowledge and sales skill is required.
- Benefited from career development training to enhance sales skills is advantageous.

As is usual, you will be working to achieve defined sales targets and capable of developing a personal plan in order to achieve your objectives through managing and further developing an existing portfolio of accounts whilst constantly striving to identify new avenues of business. Working Monday to Friday around normal office hours, although this is an external sales role requiring road travel so flexibility is expected in order to meet the needs of the business. Excellent attributes such as good organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to be an effective team player whilst enjoying a level of autonomy are essential, as are capability with Microsoft packages.
