Our award-winning start-up client creates first-of-a-kind safety systems that use some of the most advanced technologies on the market to transform rail worker safety. Its flagship geofencing solution has been named as one of TIME’s Best Inventions 2023 and has made it onto the Digital Leaders 100 list for Geospatial Initiative of the Year 2023. They work alongside industry-leading organisations in the rail sector to innovate and bring rail workers home safe every day, putting their people first through flexible and remote working, mental health policies and social activities. The business is growing quickly and we need Implementation Managers to support our technology deployments on client sites across the UK.

This is a full-time field-based role for an Implementation Manager being the bridge between the business and its client teams, guiding them through seamless adoption of our technology. You will work with other key functions internally and externally to ensure that you deliver an excellent service to our clients and their teams. You will need to build strong and trusting relationships quickly in order to do this; therefore, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are paramount.

Our Implementation Managers support the deployment of its technologies to managers, planners and track workers who have a wide range of technical competence. You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of our technologies so as you interact with planners and track workers and understand their day-to-day challenges you can coach them and help them use the technology; and also you will be ideally placed to explore how our products are used, uncover new use cases and value-adding product features, and suggest improvements. To do this, you will also be expected, if you do not have it already, to develop a strong knowledge of the industries that the business operates in so that you can understand the operational environments and how our technologies are useful for them.

We are not looking for people who hide behind a screen tweaking plans, and who don’t engage with the content of what is actually being delivered on the project. Our Implementation Managers roll up their sleeves and get stuck in to make sure clients and their teams are left fully operationally ready to use technology, and reduce incidents and save lives.

It would be preferred if you had some experience with project management (the basics are desirable, such as planning, managing risks, issues, scope, deliverables etc), however this is not essential as we are mostly looking for a strong person fit with the right attitude to deliver the contracts to its clients. You will be expected to attend sites with our clients and therefore currently that will mean that you need to meet the requirements in order to obtain the Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification.

This is a UK field-based role with the expectation of regular client site visits around the country, and possibly occasional international visits, with the remainder of the time being remote. Please note that some client-facing work will take place at weekends, bank holidays and/or overnight during live deployment. You will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the business and our clients. We have excellent policies for expenses such as travel, accommodation and subsistence, as well as for fatigue management and time off in lieu (TOIL).

Your experience might look like:

  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to influence clients and users, and turn them into advocates for products and services. Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience of working on the Rail network.
  • You might have practical, hands-on experience of on-the-ground delivery of new technologies, delivering to a range of different kinds of users with different levels of tech-savviness.
  • You might have experience delivering training or coaching to end users, ensuring they are confident and capable in using new technologies and processes.
  • You might have some experience in project management disciplines such as planning, managing risks, dependencies, issues, timelines, budgets, scope, deliverables, quality, etc.
  • You have experience of prioritising tasks effectively, working cross-departmentally as well as supporting the coordination of internal and external resources.
  • You might have some commercial awareness, such as understanding how to demonstrate the value of our work to clients during and after delivery. Good report writing skills to clearly communicate outcomes and insights are desirable.
  • You instinctively take initiative to find and fix problems, thinking out of the box to find ways to make things better.
  • You might have experience with project management tools.
  • You are able to work at weekends, bank holidays and/or overnight when required, to support deployments to shift workers (TOIL and industry-wide fatigue rules apply).
  • You must be able to drive and have a full driving licence.
