Rise10 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke industrial automation and control systems across a range of manufacturing and process environments.

We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working across testing, commissioning, installation and technical support, and who takes pride in delivering safe, reliable and well-documented systems.

This is a varied role that will see you working both within the business and at customer sites, taking ownership of FAT and SAT testing, electrical installation, commissioning, fault finding and technical documentation.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in ensuring control panels and automation systems are fully tested, compliant and ready for successful customer handover.

You’ll work closely with engineering and production teams while also representing the business directly with customers on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation & Quality
  • Maintain electrical drawings, technical documentation, PLC/HMI backups and project records.
  • Prepare FAT/SAT documentation, test records and as-built updates.
  • Maintain document and software revision control.
  • Testing & Commissioning
  • Carry out FATs, including electrical, I/O, PLC, HMI and safety testing.
  • Complete on-site SATs and commissioning of control panels, PLCs, HMIs and drives.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, control and system issues.
  • Site Installation & Service
  • Carry out control panel wiring, electrical installation and cable containment.
  • Verify field wiring and device connections.
  • Support start-up, tuning, operator training and breakdowns.
  • Complete modifications, upgrades and software updates where required.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Feedback commissioning and testing experience to improve future projects.
  • Support the development of testing, documentation and panel build standards.
  • Assist with accurate project records and engineering deliverables.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong electrical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach.

Essential Experience

  • Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Previous experience wiring control panels.
  • Experience with electrical installation and cable containment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with PLCs, HMIs and drives, ideally with systems such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley.
  • Experience producing or working with FAT/SAT documentation and QA records.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation.
  • Understanding of industrial networking and control systems.

This is a great opportunity to join a specialist engineering environment where you’ll have genuine variety in your day-to-day work.

Rather than being limited to one area of engineering, you’ll gain exposure across panel testing, electrical installation, commissioning, automation, fault finding, documentation and customer support.

If you're an experienced electrical or controls engineer looking for a role where you can be hands-on and see projects through from testing to successful commissioning, we'd love to hear from you.
