Due to continued growth and an increase in project demand, they are looking to welcome an experienced Controls Systems Engineer who can contribute to the delivery of automated control systems while developing a long-term career within a successful and forward-thinking business. The Role
As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering automation projects from concept through to completion. You will work closely with internal engineering teams and customers to design, program, test, and commission control systems across a variety of industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking PLC software projects from initial design through to final commissioning
- PLC programming, primarily using Rockwell and Schneider platforms
- Designing and developing electrical control systems including motor starters, soft start units, inverter drives, and LV control circuits
- Configuring and developing HMI and SCADA systems
- Producing functional design specifications and test documentation
- Supporting system testing and fault finding
- Carrying out customer site commissioning (typically within a 100-mile radius of Grantham)
- Occasional travel and site work, generally around 20% of the role
About You
We are looking for a Controls Systems Engineer with a strong electrical controls background and experience delivering industrial automation solutions.
- Experience designing electrical control systems
- PLC programming experience across platforms such as Rockwell, Schneider, or similar
- Knowledge of HMI and SCADA configuration (SCADA experience desirable but not essential)
- Experience working on automated industrial processes, ideally within sectors such as water, sewage, pumping, manufacturing, or similar environments
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an engineering team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside electrical engineers and customers
