Pre-Construction Estimator Bedford Up to £40,000, depending on experience 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday Permanent Rise10 Recruitment are working with an established and growing construction and electrical contracting business to recruit an experienced Pre-Construction Estimator to join their Bedford-based team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in commercial construction estimating who enjoys the detail of the pre-construction process, from reviewing project information and completing take-offs through to preparing competitive tenders and liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors. You’ll play an important role in ensuring projects are accurately estimated and commercially viable, helping to bridge the gap between client requirements, design information and construction delivery. Key Responsibilities * Analyse and interpret project information, drawings and specifications * Prepare estimates and competitive bid proposals for commercial construction projects up to £250,000 * Complete accurate material and labour take-offs from drawings * Understand construction planning, sequencing and project requirements * Raise RFIs with clients to clarify specifications, drawings or unclear information * Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive and accurate pricing * Use in-house pricing and quoting systems to prepare detailed estimates * Attend site visits and undertake site surveys where required * Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender handovers and project close-out meetings * Support the relevant business unit and provide regular progress updates * Ensure estimates and tender submissions are accurate, commercially competitive and delivered within required timescales We’re looking for someone with proven experience as a Construction Estimator within the commercial construction sector, who understands the full tendering process and can confidently work through project information to produce accurate estimates. You’ll ideally have: * Proven experience in commercial construction estimating * Experience managing the full tender submission process * A minimum NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations (Estimator), or equivalent relevant experience * Experience completing labour and material take-offs from drawings * Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal * Good IT skills and confidence using estimating/pricing systems * The ability to work collaboratively with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams What's on Offer? * Salary of up to £40,000, depending on experience * Company vehicle * Private healthcare following successful completion of probation * Pension following successful completion of probation * Development and career progression opportunities * Permanent position based from the Bedford office If you're an experienced Pre-Construction Estimator looking for your next opportunity within the commercial construction sector, we'd love to hear from you.
