Conveyancing Assistant Job Description & Person Specification

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset Job Type: Permanent - Full Time Department: Conveyancing Reports To: Head of Conveyancing

Job Summary

Risdons Solicitors are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Conveyancing Assistant to join our team in Bridgwater.

The successful candidate will provide both clerical and administrative support to the fee earners in the conveyancing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide secretarial support, including typing, word processing, and managing telephone calls and diary appointments.
  • To open and close client files.
  • To Draft, process and proofread legal documents, such as contracts, searches, and correspondence related to property sales, purchases, leases, and mortgages.
  • Communicate with clients, solicitors, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other relevant parties to gather information, provide updates, and respond to queries.
  • Assist with or conduct legal procedures, such as ordering property searches with local authorities and dealing with the Land Registry.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with professional standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and SRA regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of client care and build long-lasting client relationships.

Qualifications / Experience

  • A team player with a positive and service orientated attitude.
  • A basic understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with all parties involved.
  • A thorough understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion.

  • Proficient in using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
