THE WORK:
As a Staff Software Engineer on Ripple’s Authentication and Authorization platform team, you’ll help shape how identity works across our growing portfolio of payment, custody, and liquidity products. Our products have grown up using different identity providers and protocols, and we’re now bringing them together into a unified, consistent experience — while also building the fine-grained authorization primitives that teams across Ripple rely on every day.
HOW WE WORK:
AI tooling is core to how our team works day-to-day — coding assistants, LLM-based workflows, and agentic tools across design, development, and operations. We’re looking for people who already use these fluently, not just curious about them.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Set the technical direction for Ripple’s identity platform, including authentication flows, federation across multiple identity providers, and fine-grained authorisation
- Lead the design and delivery of a unified identity experience across Ripple’s product portfolio
- Build and operate platform services on Kubernetes, with a focus on reliability, observability, and secure secret management
- Partner with security, compliance, and product teams to translate regulatory requirements into platform capabilities
- Write clear technical proposals and contribute to architecture discussions across the engineering org
- Mentor engineers on the team through code review, design feedback, and collaboration
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Backend engineering experience in Golang or Java, including building and operating production applications within Kubernetes environments
- Experience designing or contributing to identity systems, ideally in a multi-tenant or federated context
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools as part of your day-to-day engineering workflow
- Experience collaborating across teams and writing design documents that build alignment
NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with modern authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML, and how they behave in production
- Experience with policy-as-code approaches to authorization (attribute-based, relationship-based, or hybrid)
