Our client, a specialist engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for their manufacturing quality function. This is a pivotal role requiring a blend of hands-on technical expertise and the ability to manage high-level customer and supplier relationships.
As Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring manufacturing quality remains world-class. You will bridge the gap between complex engineering designs and shop-floor execution, ensuring every part meets rigorous customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Root Cause Analysis: Manage non-conformances and customer complaints using 8Ds and 5Whys.
- Liaison & Reporting: Act as the technical point of contact for customers and suppliers while reporting shortfalls to manufacturing supervision.
- Technical Instructions: Translate customer requirements into detailed manufacturing instructions and Quality Control Plans.
- Auditing: Lead system, process, and supplier audits to ensure end-to-end compliance.
- Training: Mentor and train operators in inspection techniques and the use of measurement equipment.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of recent experience as a Quality Engineer in a mechanical manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
- Expert ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and produce credible inspection reports.
- Strong project management skills with the confidence to liaise with external stakeholders.
Highly Desirable
- Proficiency in PC-DMIS (Level 2).
- Knowledge of programming CMM’s ideally with a certificate of competence in CMM programming.
- A formal Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship is essential.
- ISO 9000 Auditor qualification.
This is a full-time permanent position based onsite in Abingdon, South Oxfordshire. All candidates should be available to work Monday – Friday on-site as remote working is not available.
