Clerk / Administrator for St John's and St Mary Magdalen Trusts
The Clerk/Administrator is responsible for administering and acts as agent for the Hospitals’ and Chapels’ Trusts in relation to the almshouse residents and the almshouses and chapels properties. Some key responsibilities include:
1. Prepare and distribute agendas, relevant papers, notices and minutes of meetings. Service the Trustees’ meetings and those of any sub-committees. Deal with matters arising from these meetings.
2. Identify problems and respond to urgent matters appropriately.
3. Report to the Trustees on the state of repair of the almshouses and deal with routine maintenance as delegated; when almshouses fall vacant, arrange for such internal decoration and repairs as are necessary; maintain, arrange and record programme of cyclical maintenance as approved by the Trustees.
4. Maintain a waiting list of potential applicants for the almshouses, informing those who have previously expressed interest about advertised vacancies.
5. Advertise vacancies in accordance with the constitution; liaise with potential applicants; record relevant information about them; arrange for interviews by Trustees in order that they may make new appointments; report outcome to applicants.
6. In conjunction with the family, oversee the reception, introduction and integration of new residents
