We believe design is an act of optimism through which invention and ideas change the world. We practice interconnected design across architecture, placemaking, and landscape architecture to define design as a continuum.
We follow a process that begins with attunement, where program and context shape strong conceptual thinking to establish a holistically informed big idea through which we develop form, confirm function, and define experience as the basis on which to explore ecology, material, and tectonic expression. We are known for our bold solutions that are inclusive of the wider context and are ever mindful that an interdisciplinary approach to design brings about inclusive, resilient, and original solutions that ensure diversity and resilience.
The Landscape Designer role is responsible for being a positive team player and participating in the RIOS design process while focusing on professional development and obtaining technical expertise. A Landscape Designer strives to deliver top-notch project task execution and contributes to the overall success of the team.
All positions at RIOS are hybrid with three days in office.
Essential duties include:
- Learning, promoting and striving to apply our office Mission and Values of curiosity, inclusion, collaboration, making and perspective through a collaborative design outlook on all assigned project tasks.
- Actively engaging in the design process and working toward the successful performance of a project.
- Successful and accurate delivery of assigned project tasks that meet the project goals and concepts set forth by studio leadership.
- Using independent judgement to evaluate, select or modify standard techniques within project criteria.
- Demonstrating the ability to show initiative and the ability to think critically and reasonably to anticipate task completion needs.
- Effectively communicating with studio leadership and peers; to include asking appropriate questions when necessary.
- Striving to ensure a high quality design delivery through continued, self- guide learning of professional practice and discipline.

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills:
- Strong design skills and a passion for creativity
- Strong organizational skills
- A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility, and resourcefulness
- Ability to skillfully work alongside internal and external customers
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years post Part II with demonstrable experience in design, detailing and/or construction documentation.
- 3–5 years of professional experience within a UK-based landscape practice, ideally with both UK and global project exposure .
- Experience with Autocad, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Enscape, and REVIT.
- Experience within Commercial/Workplace, Residential, Placemaking, Public Realm, and Hospitality sectors.
