We are looking for an experienced and committed Manager to lead our Site Team. Responsible for all reactive and planned maintenance, Health & Safety Compliance, repairs and upkeep of our sports pitches and green spaces, our ideal candidate is someone who can multitask and build a great rapport with staff and external contractors. Team cover and paid overtime outside of contracted hours may also be required.
Responsibilities
- Managing and maintaining the school's premises to the highest standards, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to learning.
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance in all areas of the site; being responsible for statutory Health and Safety monitoring and checks including COSHH.
- Liaise with contractors for necessary maintenance, repairs, and statutory monitoring checks.
- Ensure the functionality of all school facilities including lighting, heating, and emergency systems through regular inspection and maintenance schedules.
- Manage the school's security systems including being part of the rota for out-of-hours calls and emergencies.
- Oversee our cleaning contractors, undertake regular audits to ensure they maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas and raise concerns with the Operations Manager.
- Engage with school staff, students and the wider school community facilitating events and activities by managing external lettings of our spaces and resources.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of cost-effective practices across school operations.
- Promote sustainability and environmental awareness within the school.
Qualifications
- Has proven experience in Site Management across multiple buildings of different ages, preferably within an educational setting.
- Has a flexible approach to working, is able to multi-task and carries extensive DIY skills to a high standard.
- Is physically fit, willing to lift and shift furniture, deliveries and erect and dismantle staging on a regular basis.
- Shows necessary leadership capabilities and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Exhibits good communication and organisational skills, with a focus on detail.
- Has knowledge of grounds machinery and tools and an understanding in the maintenance of sports pitches.
- Is a well organised individual with adequate IT skills as there is an element of administrative duties with Health and Safety record keeping.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation and practices; ideally IOSH qualified or be willing to undertake this essential training.
- Is highly motivated, adaptable, and prepared to meet the changing needs of the school community.
