Cover Supervisor
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre‑prepared lessons and ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task. You will supervise whole classes across a range of subjects when teachers are absent due to short‑term sickness, professional development, meetings, or time allocated for planning, preparation and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students in the classroom during the absence of the regular teacher.
- Ensure a calm and purposeful learning environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with the school’s policies.
- Support students to complete the work set and help with queries where possible.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff about the lesson and student behaviour, and comply with safeguarding, health & safety, security, confidentiality and data protection policies; report all concerns to an appropriate person.

What We Are Looking For

- Is flexible, reliable and able to think on their feet.
- Experience of working with children of the relevant age would be desirable.
- Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE C in Maths and English.
- A degree would be desirable.
- An interest in teacher training would be desirable.
- Understanding of the curricular requirements of the school, including statutory requirements.
- Competence in the use of ICT to support teaching and learning.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and within a team.
- Ability to manage students in a classroom setting.
- Resilient problem‑solving and enthusiasm.
Salary and Hours
Cover Supervisor – Salary Grade C Point 5: FTE £26,283 pa, pro‑rata to £20,102 pa for 33.75 hours per week, term time only. Part‑time hours also available. Fixed term for 1 year. Hours: 8:20 am – 15:40 pm.
